A Great Way of Losing Weight: Walking

So, you’ve resolved it’s about time you get started losing a bit of weight, and that exercising more would be a good way to start. But you probably haven’t exercised in a while, so you don’t know where to start. It could even be a little frightening, commitment wise. But there is nothing to worry about, there’s an easy way to exercse once again: walking! You definitely should add walking into your workout program if you haven’t done so already.

First, when you’re setting up an exercise plan, be sure and include walking as a day-to-day activity. Do you own a dog? Take your dog for a fine, long walk. Anything less than 10 minutes doesn’t count. After one week, you’ll have walked a minimum of seventy minutes more than if you hadn’t gone for walks at all. You can double this by just walking with your dog twice a day. If you don’t live too far away from your job try walking there, or at least a part of the way. Surely, regardless how far you are from your place of work, you can work something out to get a bit of exercise on the way there. Of course, you’ll have to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles the time you work out – which is terrific! If you ride to work, you can try to walk to the next bus stop so that you do a little more walking in the day. Adding more walking into your daily routine is a snap.

If you are striving to be healthier overall, you can’t lose by walking. As walking an aerobic exercise, you’ll burn off calories, which means you’ll lose weight and it’s also great for your heart. You can go at a somewhat slow pace if necessary, so don’t be worried that you’re going to hurt your muscles or joints as you might if you went for a run. I have a thin brother who seems to be able to eat anything he wants and stay lean. I asked him about it. He tells me doesn’t know how he does it, but he mention that he goes for a walk daily. When he told me that, everything all of a sudden made sense. There’s no excuse not to exercise, when walking is very simple.

Try getting into the habit of walking everyday since you’ll have a better chance of sticking to it, and with the correct diet, you’ll be able to melt off the flab quickly. As you start to get accustomed to walking, you’ll observe that you’re definitely feeling healthier and, because it’s not that hard on you, your motivation will be enhanced too. The more frequent you walk, the more you’ll be inspired to walk . . . and the quicker you’ll want to walk. If you think you can walk more – do it. Who knows? It could be that you’ll take to walking so quickly that you decide you can bring up the notch a bit by jogging. From there, you can go on to more brisk exercises.

What else do you need to know? Are you ready to begin walking? You can always find time to walk around your workplace, or the block. If you can’t do that, sign up for a gym membership and get on a treadmill. There are numerous ways to skin this exercise cat.
